Before Christmas, I had tweeted a number of times about various secret leather projects. I couldn't mention them at the time because they were presents for family.
So here are a few pics of one of them--a purse for my mother. This is the largest project I have undertaken to date and the design is 100% original.
Unfortunately it has some flaws and I think they are more obvious in the pictures than when looking at the actual piece. When it was all finished, we had gotten it wet to shape it and it got a number of black spots under the flap. Attempts to clean them failed and we ended up using sandpaper to give that section some texture that would hide the spots. I think it looks better "for real" than it does here.
The floral design is trillium, a flower my mother likes a lot. I drew the parts free hand but using pictures for reference. I did do some tracing of my own drawings to create the finished design.
And the recipient likes it very much!
